weariness
i am weary.

i am weary of law school and studying and the constant pressure which is partly self-induced and partly externally induced.

i am weary of social interactions and insecurity, which is partly self-induced and partly externally induced.

i am weary of this world. i am weary of bush and this god-forsaken war and the innocent people who die every day. i am weary of bush and his bullshit, trying to play the race card and saying that privatizing social security will help african american males because they die younger and are thus unable to take advantage of social security. that sounds to me like a serious disjoinder in reasoning. WHY DON'T YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT HEALTH CARE OR SOCIETY -- THE THINGS THAT ARE FUNDAMENTALLY CAUSING AFRICAN AMERICAN MALES TO DIE YOUNGER -- THAN TO THROW MONEY AT THEM?

I am so tired of Bush's faith. He's such an idiot. You show me where in the bible it says that you should throw money at people to make them feel better, to fix problems? Where does it say that compassion and love and justice equal money? In what twisted universe does Bush live? Maybe he should learn to read, and then read the bible, the book on which he purportedly bases his faith.

i am so weary. i just want to withdraw from life, put my head down, and just plow through the next two years. and then the next two years after that until we can hopefully put a rationale, non-hypocritical person into office to lead this country.

Maybe the question is not so much whether Bush's policies are listed in the Bible, but whether his faith helps him recognize what he has to do to carry out God's will as he sees it. I'm not enforcing his position, but I don't think it's as clear cut as you make it out to be. Unfortunately, religion is about written texts which we all know can be interpreted to fit our preconceived views of the world. If Bush's conception of God's will involves bringing democracy to the world, then that's his agenda. It might not be right, but that doesn't mean that he isn't following what it says in the Bible, at least as he understand it.

My problem is with the way he sees his duty to carry out "God's will". I'm not sure that imposing Democracy (which is oddly equated with Christianity) on the world is consistent with the Bible. The thing is, the Bible has been interpreted countless ways to further countless agendas. (Cf. David Koresh and the Inquisition.) My point is that Bush has got it wrong. I don't care if he sincerely believes that he's got it right. Because he doesn't. I don't actually think he's got a secret book that's in the Bible that I'm either not privy to or haven't discovered yet. Like the book of George that has a to-do list, item number 5: smiting muslims. No. That's not it. He reads the bible, that has the same words as the one I read (on occasion), and he comes to such drastically different conclusions.

I think his conclusions are being misguided by his earthly motivations. There are christians out there (anyone see wife swap last night?) who are rich republicans, value material items like seven carat diamond rings, fit god around those earthly desires, pass tax cuts, reduce education spending, and don't give a fuck about the environment, and go to bed happy at night. I don't think that's in a list. I think those ideals are not biblical.
